Dorian Gray

Nadine de Macedo feat. I AM MEADOWS - Dorian Gray

Our progressive metal song “Dorian Gray” is about the novel “The Picture of Dorian Gray” from Oscar Wilde. It’s a story about a young man, who wishes that his portrait will age and fade instead of him. However, the portrait is also capable to hide sins. Song and lyrics are heavy, but everything is part of this book.

A spell extending my lifespan
Inside a portrait of a man
Oh God it’s me, I’m a handsome juvenile
My beloved died of a poison in a vial

Yellow French book without a name
teaches me how to play war games
I wanna be much more literate and mundane
How come love is so much ache and so much pain?

Pray for sinners, pray for saints
All is covered up with paint

I can be
whoever I want to be
my soul is old, but I’m forever young
Oh, can’t you see
what’s hidden inside of me
a rotten beast with nothing left undone

DORIAN GRAY

An evil grin upon my face
I’d like to kill the human race
I am the saint, ready to wipe out your disgrace
Let’s liquefy the painter’s corpse in nitric ace

PLEASE HIDE MY PICTURE
AND WHO I’M DEEP INSIDE
NO TIME FOR STRICTURE
SWALLOW MY FOOLISH PRIDE

STRICKEN WITH DESASTER
SHATTERED PILASTER
STRICKEN IN YEARS
MY DEAPEST FEARS

Pray for Satan, pray for God
purify against all odds

I can be
whoever I want to be
my soul is old, but I’m forever young
Oh, can’t you see
what’s hidden inside of me
a rotten beast with nothing left undone

HOLY FACE OF SATYR
DON’T LET ME BE YOUR MARTYR
CREEPING MOB OF VERMINS
IDENTITY CONFIRMINED

MY LIFE IS BEYOND CONTROL
I’D LIKE TO STAB MY CANVAS SOUL
THE PRECIOUS PORTRAIT I EXTOL
DIE MOTHERFUCKER DIE!

I wriggle like an eel
My face lost all appeal
My heart still made of steel
Now I can’t conceal

I have been
what the portrait meant me to be
I’ve grown old, my portrait still stays young
Oh you have seen
what’s hidden inside of me
a rotten beast with nothing left undone

DORIAN GRAY

DIE MOTHERFUCKER DIE!
DIE MOTHERFUCKER DIE!
DIE MOTHERFUCKER DIE!
DIE MOTHERFUCKER DIE!
