Rainy Sunday Afternoon

Nadine de Macedo & Michael Karns - Rainy Sunday Afternoon

I wrote this song on a rainy Sunday afternoon, and I am happy that it inspired Michael to write lyrics. This song is part of my album “Quarterlife Blues”.

Relaxing on a Sunday afternoon
In a porch swing
Sitting upon a cushion
Eyes closed
I can tell it’s raining
Pink Lilies reaching up
With long blooms

Regal moths await the evening moon
Dark clouds release the nourishing drops
In the distance
Comes reply
Of forest murmurs
And then the sound of drops
Upon the leaves

Sad feelings melting into a puddle
This day brings
A new page of lessons
Rising,
I stare into the window
People walking
Carrying ’round all their worries

Thoughts surround clouds pushing down
Upon me
Outside a stream flowing
Into the meadow
And a leaf canoe
Bidding goodbye
On it’s way
as it sways
Into the ocean

Relaxing washing my cares away
Relaxing on a Sunday afternoon in the rain
